Description

The sports test report is designed to provide nutrition and performance-related recommendations that will help active individuals and athletes boost physical and mental performance while optimizing body composition and nutritional status.

A person who is a digital nomad or works from home and is involved in sports or physical activity may want to consider getting a nutrition-focused genetic test to gain insight into how their genes may affect their response to different types of training and how it may impact their nutrient intake and absorption. These tests can analyze specific genetic variations that can impact nutrient metabolism, absorption, and overall health.

For example, a genetic test can help identify genetic variations that may increase the risk of certain nutrient deficiencies, such as vitamin D, B12, or folate deficiencies, which are important for muscle and bone health. Genetic testing can also identify genetic variations that may influence the way a person metabolizes certain nutrients, such as fat, carbohydrates, and caffeine, which can affect the chances of getting pregnant.

Additionally, genetic testing can also identify genetic variations that may affect the function of the muscles, the endurance and the recovery time after physical activity. Genetic testing can help to understand how an individual's body responds to different types of exercise, such as endurance or strength training, and can help in optimizing the diet and training plans to achieve the best results.

It is important to note that genetic testing is not a substitute for regular medical check-ups and a healthy lifestyle. Genetic testing can provide valuable information, but it is just one piece of the puzzle. A person's overall health is influenced by a combination of genetic and environmental factors, including diet, exercise, and lifestyle. It is also important for athletes or physically active individuals to make sure they are getting enough of the essential nutrients through a well-planned diet, consulting a dietitian or a nutritionist can be helpful in creating a balanced diet that meets the body's nutritional needs.

What to expect

Once you purchase a genetic test service, you will receive an email with information explaining your next steps, which includes setting up an account in our HIPAA-secured patient management system called Healthie and filling out some required forms. Healthie is the platform we use to keep your sensitive and personal health information secure.  You can set up the Healthie app on your mobile device for easy access.

Once you purchase a genetic test, we will submit an order to our supplier Nutrigenomix, who will send a DNA testing kit directly to you.  Once you have collected a DNA sample, you will ship the kit back to Nutrigenomix for analysis in a prepaid mailer.  Results typically take 2-3 weeks.  The results will be uploaded to your account in Healthie for you to view.

Once your results are received, you may set up an appointment with us to discuss the results with you.
